About app quality checks

Shopify uses a quality check process to verify that all apps distributed through the Shopify App Store meet the specified requirements.

The requirements for apps in the Shopify ecosystem can be updated without notice to ensure the best possible merchant experience. Even if your app has previously gone through the Shopify App Store review process, the ongoing app quality check process verifies that your app continues to meet the most recent requirements.

If your app is selected for a quality check, then you'll receive an email with further instructions.

During the quality check process, a member of our App Excellence Team will notify you by email at the App submission contact email set in your app's listing. To ensure that you receive these emails, add noreply@shopify.com to your allowed senders list in your email service provider’s settings.

To view the feedback from your quality check and submit your response, go to the Partner Dashboard. The email only notifies you of updates. All feedback and your responses are managed in the Partner Dashboard until the quality check process is complete.

If you don’t have access to your Partner account email, then contact Partner support.

When your app undergoes a quality check, you receive an email notifying you that your app is in the quality check process. To view the details, go to the Partner Dashboard. If applicable, the quality check includes a list of required changes that you need to make to your app. The required changes are always based on the Shopify App Store requirements.

If your quality check has a list of changes that you need to make to your app, then you have 30 days to make those changes. After you make the changes, submit your response in the Partner Dashboard and provide evidence of the changes that you've made. A member of our App Excellence Team will review your app. If the changes you made meet the current requirements, then the quality check is complete.

Caution

If you don't respond to the initial quality check within 7 days, then your app will be demoted. If you fail to make required changes to your app within 30 days, then your app might be unpublished.
