# Hydrogen developer preview update: September 2, 2026

The Hydrogen developer preview adds new capabilities to the toolkit and extends the ways developers can build Shopify storefronts:

* **Variant links:** Links that name a variant, like the ones Shopify submits to a Google Shopping feed, now open on that variant instead of the product's default.
* **Cart refresh:** Reload the cart after your own code changes it, like a cart created on your server.
* **Local HTTPS certificates:** Hydrogen creates the certificates for Customer Account testing, so local login setup takes one command or none.
