# The location object requires `read_locations` scope

As of the **2024-07** release of the GraphQL Admin API, the location object will be gated by the `read_locations` scope. Attempting to [read the location object](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/admin-graphql/2024-07/objects/Location) without the `read_locations` access scope will return an access denied error.
