All apps [distributed through the Shopify App Store](/docs/apps/launch/distribution) must have an [app listing](/docs/apps/launch/app-requirements-checklist#writing-a-shopify-app-store-listing) page on the Shopify App Store, but you can choose whether the page is fully visible or has limited visibility.

Listing your app on the Shopify App Store is the easiest way to promote your app to Shopify merchants, but you can choose to make your app have limited visibility. You can [change your app’s visibility](#change-your-app-s-visibility) at any time.

> Note:
> Only public apps can be listed on the Shopify App Store. Custom apps are built exclusively for a single Shopify store or Plus organization and aren't listed on the Shopify App Store. For more information on distributing your app, refer to [Distributing your app](/docs/apps/launch/distribution).

## Comparing fully visible and limited visibility apps

Merchants can install both fully visible and limited visibility apps from an app listing page that uses a Shopify App Store URL. However, only fully visible apps are indexed and appear in the following places:

- Relevant [category](/docs/apps/launch/app-store-review/app-listing-categories) pages
- Shopify App Store search results
- Third-party search engine results

## Change your app’s visibility

1. Log in to your [Partner Dashboard](https://partners.shopify.com/organizations).

3. Click the name of the app whose listing status you want to change.
4. Click **Distribution**.
