Revenue share for Shopify App Store developers
Shopify's revenue share model is designed to help app developers grow. You keep 100% of your first $1,000,000 USD in gross app revenue earned from January 1, 2025, and 85% of earnings above that. All billing is subject to a 2.9% processing fee and applicable sales tax.

To access the revenue share plan, you need to register with the Shopify App Store for a one-time fee of $19 USD per Partner account. If you distribute your app to multiple merchants, you need to publish it through the Shopify App Store. Registration isn't required if you're only developing custom apps for a single merchant.
To register:
- Go to Partner Dashboard > Settings.
- In the App Store registration section, click Register now.
- On the Register for the Shopify App Store page, enter the following information:
- Whether your account is owned by an individual or an entity.
- Whether you have any Associated Developer Accounts, and the owner email address and business name for each.
- Review your information to verify that it adheres to the Associated Developer Accounts requirements in the Partner Program Agreement.
- Click Add payment method and enter your payment information.
- Click Register.
Anchor to Associated Developer AccountsAssociated Developer Accounts
During registration, you must link all of your Associated Developer Accounts to ensure revenue is tracked correctly. An Associated Developer Account is any Partner account that you or an associated developer has registered with Shopify. Failing to register is a violation of the Partner Program Agreement.
Your gross app revenue is calculated across all Associated Developer Accounts, so all related accounts count toward the $1,000,000 USD threshold. Even though revenue is calculated together, payouts are still made separately at the Partner account level.
Learn more about Associated Developer Accounts on the Shopify Help Center.
Revenue share is calculated based on gross sales, not net sales. Refunds aren't taken into account. If you earn revenue across multiple apps, revenue share is based on the cumulative revenue of all your apps, including apps developed under any Associated Developer Accounts. Revenue share is still paid out separately at the Partner account level.

For developers with annual app earnings under $20,000,000 USD per year, these standard rates apply:
| Lifetime gross app revenue | Revenue share rate |
|---|---|
| First $1,000,000 USD | 0% |
| Above $1,000,000 USD | 15% |
Developers who earned $20,000,000 USD or more through the Shopify App Store in the prior calendar year, or who have a gross company revenue of $100,000,000 USD or more, pay 15% revenue share on all app revenue. The 0% rate on the first $1,000,000 USD doesn't apply.
Eligibility is reassessed annually. Shopify will reach out to confirm eligibility as needed.
