# Updates to our API License and Terms and Partner Program Agreement

We've made some updates to our [API License and Terms of Use](https://www.shopify.com/legal/api-terms) and our [Partner Program Agreement](https://www.shopify.ca/partners/terms) to protect the integrity of our platform and clarify how apps should be built and distributed on the Shopify platform.

These changes come into effect as of today, January 1, 2021.

We encourage all developers on our platform to review and be familiar with the API License and Terms and the Partner Program Agreement, so that you understand how to build, run, and grow your app and development business on our platform.
