# "Awaiting return items" fulfillment hold reason

`AWAITING_RETURN_ITEMS` The fulfillment hold is applied because of return items not yet received during an exchange.

The new hold reason is applied to a [fulfillment hold](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/admin-graphql/next/objects/FulfillmentHold) on a fulfillment order when a return is created with exchange items.
