# Display both related and complementary product recommendations on storefronts

The [Product Recommendations API](https://shopify.dev/api/ajax/reference/product-recommendations) now supports an `intent` parameter that allows theme developers to specify whether they want to show related or complementary products.

Complementary products are a new type of product recommendation intended for items that are often bought together or pair well. Complementary products can be set with the [Search & Discovery app](https://apps.shopify.com/search-and-discovery).
