# Introducing the .dev Assistant VSCode Extension

The .dev Assistant extension for VSCode is now deprecated. The extension was a tool to integrate the .dev assistant into your IDE, but our new MCP server solves all the use cases for the extension and more.

For the latest features and access to Shopify’s development resources, use the [Shopify.dev MCP](https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/build/devmcp) server with your preferred AI development tool, such as Cursor or Claude Desktop. The MCP server lets your assistant search documentation, introspect API schemas, and get up-to-date answers about Shopify APIs.
