Shopify App Store: Estimated local-currency prices

Merchants who are billed in a currency other than USD now see estimated prices for your app in their billing currency. No action is required on your part, and you can continue to set prices in USD.

What changed

The Shopify App Store and the Shopify admin show app prices as estimates in the merchant's billing currency, for example €17.67 EUR/month. Estimates appear in these places:

  • Your app listing and app cards on the Shopify App Store.
  • The plan selection page, the charge approval page, and app billing details in the Shopify admin.

A disclaimer next to each estimate shows the exchange rate. The disclaimer links to local currency billing in the Shopify Help Center.

Previously, these merchants saw USD prices and the message "All charges are billed in USD." Shopify still converts each charge to the merchant's billing currency when it issues the charge.

Who's affected

This change applies to apps that set prices in USD, with Shopify App Pricing or with the Billing API. Merchants see estimates when their billing currency is one of these 14 currencies: AUD, CAD, CHF, CZK, DKK, EUR, GBP, INR, JPY, NOK, PLN, RON, SEK, and SGD.

These cases do not change:

  • Merchants who are billed in USD see USD prices.
  • Charges that you create in another supported currency with the Billing API show their own amount.
  • Prices on app pages that you control are not converted.

What to do

No action is required. Your prices and earnings do not change. If your support content shows plan prices or screenshots, then check that it matches what merchants now see.
